Fenbendazole is a drug prescribed by veterinarians to treat intestinal parasites. It kills roundworms, whipworms,hookworms, and tapeworms in pets. It is only FDA- approved in dogs, but veterinarians often prescribe Fenbendazole to cats as well.
Fenbendazole is a broad spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic used against gastrointestinal parasiteincluding: giardia, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms,the tapeworm genus Taenia (but not effective against Dipylidium caninum, a common dog tapeworm), pinworms, aelurostrongylus, paragonimiasis, strongyles and strongyloides and can be administered to sheep, cattle, horses, fish, dogs, cats, rabbits and seals. Drug interactions may occur if salicylanilides like dibromsalanand niclosamide are co-administered. Abortions in cattle and death in sheep have been reported after using these medications together.
