It is used as a preservative in vaccines. Phenoxyethanol is included in topical antiseptic solutions, like octenisept used for the treatment of traumatic, acute, chronic, surgical and burn wounds, the treatment of bacterial vaginosis, acne lesions and as the mucous membrane antiseptic.
